Mullayanagiri and Baba Budan Giri Mountains are two beautiful roaming places in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in Karnataka. So it is not possible for everyone to reach there. This hill is called Mullayanagiri just because of Saint Mulappa Swami's temple is situated on this hill. You will have to do tracking a lot of distance to reach here. But you can enjoy beautiful scenes on the road during your tracking which will make memorable and pleasant your long journey. Watching the sunset from here is really a different and amazing experience.

The second is Baba Budan Giri Hill, which is named after the name of Sufi saint Baba Budan. The tourists can also see the caves of three Siddhas located here. Hiking and tracking lovers have liked these places more. At this place, Munayanagiri and Dattagiri, two another hills are also famous. whose specialty is the Kurinjee flower, that flourishes after 12 years. If You go to Karnataka You must see the Jog waterfalls. It is located in Sagara taluk Shivamogga district. Situated on the river Sharavathi, Jog waterfall is the second highest waterfall in India dropping from the height of 253 m (830 ft). Jog Falls is also known as Gerusoppe Falls, Gersoppa Falls, and Jogada Gundi. The surrounding mountains look like the art of a painter. There are also many places around Jog Falls, Which can roam easily in one day. Jog Falls is a perfect destination for nature lovers. Jog Falls is mostly visited by people living in and around Bangalore and Mangalore.

Jog Falls is located in Shimoga District of Karnataka, 30 km away from Sagara, 104 km from Shimoga, and 379 km away from Bangalore. You can take a train to Sagara from Bangalore, from where you can get into buses to Jog. You can reach Jog Falls directly by availing of buses to Jog from Bangalore. Alternatively, from Bangalore, you can take a bus to Sagara, from where the local bus to Jog is available. The nearest airport is at Bangalore.

Kodachadri hill is another place to roam. Kodachadri (Kudajadri) is a mountain peak with dense forests in the Western Ghats in South India (Shivamogga Dist., Karnataka State). It is 10th highest peak of Karnataka. The Karnataka government has declared it a natural heritage. There are many bizarre creatures like Indian rock python, Hornbill and Malabar Langur can be seen here. You can enjoy the enchanting scenario of the Arabian Sea from the top of the hill which is undefined with that view of sunrise and sunset which admixtures the essence of joy and happiness. Kodachadri is one of the most popular weekend destinations for camping, trekking, and star gazing. Trekking to Kodachadri peak starts from Nagodi village or Nittur, Shivamogga village which is located at the base of Kodachadri.

How To Reach:

Bangalore is at 380kms, Shimoga 115km, Kolluru 20km, and Mangalore 147 km to Kodachadri. Shimoga is the nearest Railway Station. From there, You can take public transport to reach Nagodi village. From Udupi, it is three hours journey to Nagodi village, from where trekking starts. Buses are also available to reach Shimoga from all the important cities. Mangalore is the nearest Airport.

Agumbe :

Agumbe is also a famous tourist spot in Shimoga district of Karnataka. Agumbe is a small hill village, Located at an altitude of 2725 feet above sea level, this place is called Cherrapunji of South India because it also rains all year round. Agumbe is famous for spectacular sunsets during the summer. A gallery has been built on the edge of the ghat for watching the sunset. On a fine evening, the sunset can be seen over the Arabian Sea The amenities for tourists are poor in Agumbe. But nature lover can enjoy this exquisite place. There are a number of waterfalls in the locality. Like Barkana Falls, Onake Abbi Falls, Jogigundi Falls, and Koodlu Theertha Falls. A temple is also located in Agumbe dedicated to Sri Venugopala Krishna. This temple is an old structure known for beautiful architecture and peacefulness. An annual fair is organized in the month of February of every year in honor of the deity Sri Venugopala Krishna. Another local temple is the Sringeri Sharadamba temple.

Agumbe is 95 kms from Shimoga. Regular Buses are available to reach Shimoga from all the important cities. The nearest railway station is Udupi on Konkan Railway (63km) which is well connected to major cities by regular trains. Bangalore is another convenient railway station which is also well connected with all major Indian cities. The closest airports are Mangalore (140kms) and Bengaluru (274kms).
